Somalia: Authority announces its inauguration
OneTrust DataGuidance confirmed with the Data Protection Authority (the Authority) on February 26, 2024, that on February 24, 2024, the Authority was inaugurated. In particular, the Authority was established following the approval of the Data Protection Act, 2023, in March 2023. The Authority further stated, among other things, that 'Somalia aims to create an environment conducive to digital innovation and economic growth. Collaboration among stakeholders will be essential to address challenges, capitalize on opportunities, and realize Somalia's vision of a digitally enabled future.'
