Singapore: PDPC announces handbook on cybersecurity, data protection, and computer misuse legislation

The Personal Data Protection Commission ('PDPC') announced, on 25 November 2021, that, in collaboration with the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore and the Singapore Police Force, it had developed a handbook on the Cybersecurity Act 2018 (No. 9 of 2018), Computer Misuse Act (Cap. 50A), and Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (No. 26 of 2012) ('PDPA'). In particular, the handbook provides an overview of the three pieces of legislation and how they work in tandem, as illustrated through examples of data breaches. Furthermore, the handbook also outlines online resources to assist organisations in securing their IT systems and to help individuals protect their data.
