Serbia: Poverenik completes inspection of Republic Geodetic Authority following cybersecurity incident

The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection ('Poverenik') announced, on 18 July 2022, that it had completed ex officio inspections in relation to the Republic Geodetic Authority, following the Geodetic Authority's notification that it had suffered from a cyber attack against its information system. In particular, the Poverenik found that the information system consisted of two segments, namely servers used to launch system applications and servers used to store data.

Through its investigation, the Poverenik determined that only the application segment had been affected. As such, the Poverenik concluded that there were no irregularities with the Geodetic Authority's actions and that there was no violation of Article 52 of the Law on Protection of Personal Data 2018 (Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia, No. 87/2018).
