Senegal: CPD publishes fourth quarterly notice for 2023

On January 10, 2024, the Senegalese data protection authority (CPD) published its fourth quarterly notice for 2023. The notice examines compliance activities, including applications for authorization and declarations of personal data processing, complaints received, reports from citizens, and on-site inspections carried out. The notice highlights that the CPD processed 134 files, including 112 declarations, 21 authorization requests, and one request for an opinion.

The CPD highlighted that the most recurring processing operations concerned video surveillance systems in businesses and in private homes, customer databases, personnel management, mobile applications, and access control systems using biometrics in workplaces.

Furthermore, the CPD stated that it put in place the 'simplified standards,' allowing data controllers to facilitate their compliance actions without going through the ordinary declaration process.
