Senegal: CPD publishes first quarterly notice for 2024

On April 19, 2024, the Senegalese data protection authority (CPD) published its first quarterly notice for 2024. The notice examines activities carried out by the CPD, such as the examination of authorization application files, the collection of complaints, and visiting key stakeholders in the framework for the protection of personal information in Senegal.

The notice highlights that the CPD processed 109 files, including 71 declarations, 33 authorization requests, and five re-registered files.

The CPD also pointed out that it promoted awareness-raising actions, with a focus on the celebration of World Data Protection Day and digital communication. Additionally, the CPD mentioned its cooperation and partnerships at the international, African, and national levels. Alongside workshops that were held on topics such as 5G for defense and security forces, information systems of the Senegalese administration, fighting against cybercrime in the fintech sector, and the introduction of computer processes in the management of civil status.
