San Marino: Data protection law enters into force

Law No. 171 of 21 December 2018, Protection of Individuals with Regard to the Processing of Personal Data ('the Law') entered into force, on 5 January 2019, following its approval by the Grand and General Council and publishing on 21 December 2018. The Law includes provisions on penalties for data protection violations up to €10 million or up to 4% of an entity's global annual turnover in the previous year, whichever is higher.
