Russia: Roskomnadzor notes risks of AI

On June 21, 2024, the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology, and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) published a summary of the discussions that happened during a meeting of the Expert Council on Artificial Intelligence of the Main Radio Frequency Center on the trends of artificial intelligence (AI) development.

The Roskomnadzor highlighted some of the risks associated with the development of AI that were discussed during the meeting, such as the lack of identification and labeling of AI technologies, abuse of trust of users who do not know about the negative consequences of using AI technologies, and radical concentration of power in the hands of AI manufacturers. The head of the Roskomnadzor also noted the need for Russia to develop its own technologies and services in the field of AI.
