Russia: Ministry of Digital Development proposes consent register for data processing

The Ministry of Digital Development, Telecommunications and Mass Media announced, on 1 September 2022, proposals to create a register to record individuals' consent to the processing of their personal data via the public services portal. In particular, according to the Ministry, the register would allow individuals to provide and withdraw their consent when receiving various services, for example from government agencies and banks, or when registering for loyalty programmes. More importantly, the Ministry outlined that the register would also enable individuals to view the consent that they have given, to whom, and when it had been provided, as well as control the deletion of their personal data.

Currently, the Ministry's proposals have been submitted to the President during a conference on 31 August 2022.

You can read the press release here and details of the conference here, both only available in Russian.
