Russia: Bill prohibiting compulsory collection of consumer data in connection with contracts
The State Parliament ('Duma') adopted, on 4 May 2022, Bill No. 1184356-7 On Amending Article 16 of the Law of the Russian Federation 'On the Protection of Consumer Rights'. In particular, the bill highlights the establishment of a prohibition on the seller to refuse to conclude, amend, terminate, or execute a contract in connection with the consumer's refusal to provide personal data.
The bill enters into effect on 1 September 2022.
