Portugal: ANACOM designated the coordinator of digital services under DSA

On February 16, 2024, the Council of Ministers of Portugal published Decree-Law No. 20-B/2024, in which the National Communications Authority (ANACOM) was designated as the coordinating authority of digital services in Portugal, following the Digital Services Act's (DSA) entry into force. Alongside ANACOM, the Regulatory Entity for Social Communication and the General Inspection of Cultural Activities were named the competent authorities in matters of social communication and media content, and copyright and related rights, respectively.

ANACOM also published a press release, on February 19, 2024, highlighting that the DSA entered into force on February 17, 2024, and the new responsibilities that ANACOM has regarding enforcement of the DSA.

You can read the Decree-Law here and ANACOM's press release here, both only available in Portuguese.
