Netherlands: AP announces investigations regarding use of Google Analytics

The Dutch data protection authority ('AP') announced, on 13 January 2022, that it is currently investigating two complaints regarding the use of Google Analytics in Netherlands. In particular, the AP noted that the Austrian data protection authority had completed an investigation into the use of Google Analytics by an Austrian website in January 2022, concluding that Google Analytics does not appear to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) ('GDPR'). Moreover, the AP highlighted that upon completion of its investigation, the AP will be able to determine whether Google Analytics is now allowed or not.
