Netherlands: AP announces CZ has amended practices following investigation

The Dutch data protection authority ('AP') announced, on 14 September 2021, that Onderlinge Waarborgmaatschappij Centrale Zorgverzekeraars group ('CZ') had changed its methods for authorising applications following an investigation carried out by the AP which resulted in a fine in February 2021. In particular, the AP outlined that CZ is now working with new policies for the assessment of authorisation applications for specialist medical rehabilitation without admission and further established that CZ has made sufficient improvements in this regard. In addition, the AP noted that CZ has removed the relevant medical person data of insured persons from its systems.
