Japan: Toyota Mobility Services addresses data breach potentially affecting 25,000 customers

On February 16, 2024, Toyota Mobility Services Co., Ltd. (Toyota Mobility Services) issued a notice addressing a data breach potentially affecting 25,000 customers. Toyota Mobility Services explained that the incident was caused by the inappropriate handling of access keys by an outsourced company. In this respect, Toyota Mobility Services noted that the affected personal information included email addresses and customer identification numbers stored on its data server. Toyota Mobility Services also highlighted that, on the same day, it took measures such as changing the access key of the data server and continuously monitoring the system for unauthorized access.
