Japan: Right-on addresses data breach potentially affecting 247,600 customers

Right-on Co., Ltd. issued, on 4 November 2021, a notice in which it addressed a data breach potentially affecting the personal information of up to 247,600 customers. In particular, Right-on confirmed that as a result of unauthorised access by a third party, personal information including name, phone number, address, date of birth, and gender was leaked. Notably, Right-on highlighted that credit card information was not included.

As a result of the incident, Right-on stated that it will thoroughly implement measures to strengthen security against unauthorised access and further strengthen its monitoring system. In addition, Right-on detailed that it will have a third-party audit its security system and strive to prevent recurrence, emphasising that it will inform customers when new information is found regarding the matter.
