Japan: METI requests public comments on AI Social Implementation Architecture report

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry ('METI') released, on 15 January 2021, its AI Governance ver. 1.0 (AI Social Implementation Architecture Study Group Intermediate) report and has requested public comments on the same. In particular, the report examines domestic and international trends in artificial intelligence ('AI') governance including AI principles, risk assessments, and classifications, as well as AI governance structures. In addition, the report considers current and desired AI governance in Japan such as the introduction of non-legally binding corporate governance guidelines and legally binding regulations.

You can read the press release here and the report here, both only available in Japanese
