Japan: LINE Yahoo! addresses data breach potentially affecting 302,980 pieces of personal information

On February 14, 2024, LINE Yahoo! Corporation (LINE Yahoo!) updated its notice and apology regarding an information leak due to unauthorized access dated November 27, 2023. In particular, LINE Yahoo! stated that it was accessed by an unauthorized third party and that information regarding users, business partners, and employees was leaked. More specifically, LINE Yahoo! stated that the incident potentially affected 302,980 pieces of personal information about users. LINE Yahoo! further clarified that in addition to systems managed and operated by them, they will also take additional measures such as requesting information about unauthorized access from the service provider of the service system outside the company.
