International: Brazil and EU work to finalize mutual adequacy decision

On March 21, 2024, the European Commission announced that the EU and the Government of Brazil held their 12th Digital Dialogue. In particular, the parties identified priority areas for cooperation and follow-up actions which include continued dialogue on data protection and international data flows, with a view to finalizing mutual adequacy decisions. In addition, the parties will work to exchange best practices and promote cooperation in areas including research and regulatory frameworks for the digital economy, which will cover areas such as data governance, AI, and digital platforms. The parties confirmed that the actual implementation of these actions will be supported by a work plan to be agreed upon at the operational level, noting that at the next dialogue, they will assess the progress made and update the list of priorities.
