Iceland: Persónuvernd announces monitoring priorities for 2024

On February 7, 2024, the Icelandic data protection authority (Persónuvernd) announced its strategic goals for proactive monitoring in the year 2024. In particular, the Persónuvernd noted that based on issues it had examined and prioritized in recent years, it shall focus its attention on these areas in the following order:

  • processing of personal information in smart solutions/software systems of financial companies;
  • processing of personal data in smart solutions/software systems of insurance companies;
  • processing of personal data in smart solutions/software systems of service companies;
  • processing of personal information in the field of financial technology;
  • personalization and microtargeting; and
  • processing of personal data in the field of health technology.
