Germany: DSK releases updated Standard Data Protection Model

The Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information ('BfDI') announced, on 24 November 2022, the publication of an updated version of the Standard Data Protection Model ('SDM 3.0'), which was adopted, on 24 November 2022, by the German Data Protection Conference ('DSK') during its 104th meeting. In particular, the SDM 3.0 explained that its purpose is to provide suitable mechanisms to translate the legal requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) ('GDPR') into technical and organisational measures.

Notably, the SDM 3.0 explains that the standard model described can make a significant contribution in Germany and also in the international context, both for data protection supervision and for the responsible bodies in the private and public sector in order to implement the GDPR effectively.

You can read the announcement here and the SDM 3.0 here, both only available in German.
