Germany: BSI releases updated minimum standard for use of TLS

The Federal Office for Information Security ('BSI') published, on 10 May 2021, its updated minimum standard for the use of Transport Layer Security ('TLS'). In particular, the BSI highlighted that information may be susceptible to interception or manipulation without authorisation if the transmission of the data is not secure. As such, the updated standard provides guidance on using TLS to protect the transmission of data via communication networks. In addition, the updated standard takes into account the current recommendations of the technical guidelines of the BSI and addresses the handling of TLS protocol versions and cryptographic procedures that do not meet the requirements of the minimum standard.

You can read the press release here and the updated standard here, both only available in German.
