Germany: BSI publishes test specification for technical guideline for broadband routers

The Federal Office for Information Security ('BSI') published, on 3 July 2020, its test specification ('the Test Specification') for the technical guideline ('the Technical Guideline') for broadband routers. In particular, the BSI highlighted that the Technical Guideline defines the minimum level of IT security measures that should be implemented for routers in the customer area, and that the Test Specification aims to allow manufacturers, test centres, and other interested broadband routers to verify compliance with the requirements of the Technical Guideline in detail. In addition, the BSI noted that the Technical Guideline and the associated Test Specification are incorporated into the design of the IT security certification within IT Security Law 2.0.
