Germany: BSI announces formation of Digital Cluster Bonn
On January 15, 2024, the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) announced, that the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), the Federal Office of Justice (BfJ), the BSI, the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (BfDI), the Federal Cartel Office (Bundeskartellamt), and the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) have founded the 'Digital Cluster Bonn' with the aim of expanding their cooperation on all aspects of digitalization.
The BSI stated, among other things, that the focus of the Digital Cluster would be the regulation and supervision of the laws on digitalization such as the Digital Markets Act, the Digital Services Act, the Data Act, and the Artificial Intelligence Act. According to the BSI, the authorities will contribute, and share knowledge and experiences to enable the laws on digitalization to be applied coherently. Further, the Digital Cluster expects to make noticeable progress here through the sharing of model solutions/best practices and closer collaboration on specific projects such as modern process and data management or the use of centrally provided standard components, digital services, and artificial intelligence (AI) in administration.
