France: CNIL releases public questionnaire on health data processing standards

On May 16, 2024, the French data protection authority (CNIL) published a questionnaire as part of its public consultation on the development of new standards for the processing of health data.

CNIL explained that it had developed three standards for people implementing decentralization and/or dematerialization measures for clinical trials, including one on sending information to participants, one on home monitoring, and another on best practices for remote quality control.

CNIL stated that feedback on the standards can be sent to CNIL using a questionnaire organized into the following themes of interest:

  • research repositories;
  • non-research repositories;
  • inventory of needs linked to the development of artificial intelligence;
  • specific documentation needs; and
  • participation in working groups.

CNIL highlighted that it would also organize a webinar on the standards on May 21, 2024. The public consultation is open until July 12, 2024.
