France: CNIL publishes guidance on codes of conduct and BCRs

The French data protection authority ('CNIL') published, on 7 February 2020, guidance and recommendations on codes of conduct and Binding Corporate Rules ('BCRs'). In particular, CNIL highlighted that the guidance on codes of conduct ('the Codes of Conduct Guidance') will help companies comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) ('GDPR') by including, among other things, the content of the code of conduct, practical examples, and how to get a code of conduct approved. In addition, CNIL noted that its guidance on BCRs ('the BCR Guidance') aims to help companies create a policy on data transfers outside the EU.
