Florida: Bill banning new social media accounts for minors vetoed by Governor

On March 1, 2024, House Bill 1 introducing an act relating to social media use for minors was vetoed by the Governor. In particular, the bill was introduced to prohibit social media platforms from allowing a minor who is younger than 16 years of age to create a new account on the social media platform. Furthermore, the bill would require social media platforms to use reasonable age verification methods to verify the age of each account holder at the time a new account is created.
