Finland: Ombudsman launches project on children data protection

The Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman ('the Ombudsman') announced, on 28 November 2022, the launch of a new joint project with TIEKE Tietohäyskuntan keimistiskeskus ry, named 'GDPR4CHLDRN'. In particular, the Ombudsman explained that the goal of GDPR4CHLDRN is to provide information on the processing of personal data for associations organising children's leisure activities and for parents, and that GDPR4CHLDRN will develop methods for supporting the application of data protection legislation for hobbies and sports associations.

Moreover, the Ombudsman noted that this initiative aims to help associations by providing them with clear practical instructions on how they can protect children's personal data. Lastly, the Ombudsman outlined that GDPR4CHLDRN intends to foster the understanding of data protection from children and their parents.
