EU: Presidency of Council of the EU invites Committee to confirm agreement on new procedural rules for GDPR enforcement

On May 24, 2024, the Council of the European Union announced further developments on the Proposal for a Regulation laying down additional procedural rules relating to the enforcement of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The European Parliament previously adopted its negotiating mandate on the matter on April 10, 2024, and the Working Party on Data Protection agreed on the text of the proposal after the last meeting on May 22, 2024.

The Council outlined in the interinstitutional file that the Presidency invites the Permanent Representatives Committee to:

  • confirm agreement on the text of the general approach; and
  • recommend that the Council reach a general approach through an 'A' item in one of its next meetings to enable the Presidency to conduct those negotiations.

You can read the interinstitutional file, including the text of the proposal, here.
