EU: NOYB lodges 226 complaints against websites' cookie banner settings
None of your business ('NOYB') announced, on 9 August 2022, that it had lodged, on the same date, 226 complaints with 18 authorities against websites with cookie banner settings which it determined to be non-compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) ('GDPR'). In particular, NOYB outlined that, following a first batch of complaints in May 2021, many websites using the software had adapted their settings, adding 'reject' buttons.
NOYB stated that, in the coming months, it will extend its scope to webpages which use further Consent Management Platforms ('CMPs'). However, it is still waiting for first decisions regarding the complaints which were filed in August 2021.
