EU: EIT publishes report on creation of taxonomy for the European AI ecosystem
The European Institute of Innovation & Technology ('EIT') published, on 19 January 2022, a report on Creation of a Taxonomy for the European AI Ecosystem. In particular, the EIT noted that the report addresses the risk of losing oversight and efficiency in several artificial intelligence ('AI') activities, reports, and the AI landscape. In addition, the EIT stated that in the report 35 existing frameworks have been scanned and analysed. Furthermore, the EIT stated that the developed AI taxonomy is compatible with the existing ones as long as they have not used incorrect or inconsistent clusters or categories. Moreover, the EIT noted that on top of that framework, a database structure has been built and integrated into the existing EIT Innovation Communities tools. Lastly, the EIT highlighted that an initial identification of the existing AI ecosystem in Europe has been conducted and added to the database, and the central documents of the European Commission and other European bodies have been analysed and compared to ensure compatibility,
