EU: Commission requests information under DSA from Pornhub, XVideos, and Stripchat

On June 13, 2024, the European Commission sent Pornhub, Stripchat, and XVideos requests for information under the Digital Services Act (DSA).

In particular, the Commission requested information on:

  • the measures taken to diligently assess and mitigate risks related to the protection of minors online, as well as to prevent the amplification of illegal content and gender-based violence;
  • age assurance mechanisms adopted by these pornographic platforms; and
  • the internal organization of the companies to ensure compliance with the DSA.

The Commission highlighted that Pornhub, Stripchat, and Xvideos must provide the requested information by July 4, 2024, and that the Commission can impose fines for providing incorrect, incomplete, or misleading information. In case of failure to reply, the Commission may decide to request the information by decision.
