EU: Commission announces collaboration with OECD on AI monitoring
The European Commission ('the Commission') announced, on 27 February 2020, that it had reached an agreement with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development ('OECD') in order to jointly monitor global artificial intelligence ('AI') developments, following the Commission's release of its white paper on AI. In particular, the Commission outlined that the agreement aims at helping policymakers respond to AI-related challenges and exploit the opportunities of AI. Moreover, the Commission highlighted that the agreement has focused on building a database of national AI strategies and policies, covering initiatives across a range of areas, such as education, health, and transport.
