Estonia: DPI publishes annual report for 2019
The Data Protection Inspectorate ('DPI') published, on 18 May 2020, its annual report ('the Report') for 2019. In particular, the Report outlines, among other things, that it had given its opinion on nine pieces of draft legislation, received 2,343 requests for clarification or information, and issued 13 warnings and five fines. In addition, the Report offers ten recommendations for organisations in 2020, which include conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments ('DPIA') before using new technology, ensure that personal information published online is legally based, that records of processing activities reflect actual data processing, and updating security measures.
You can read the press release here and the Report here, both only available in Estonian.
