Denmark: Datatilsynet publishes statement on security breaches
The Danish data protection authority ('Datatilsynet') published, on 12 February 2020, a statement ('Statement') on security breaches in the fourth quarter of 2019. In particular, the Statement highlights that Datatilsynet had received 2,328 personal data breach notifications during that period. Moreover, the Statement notes that data controllers are often unable to assess whether the citizens concerned should be informed about security breaches. As a result, Datatilsynet had in several cases instructed the data controllers to make such notification to data subjects.
