Denmark: Datatilsynet hands over TikTok investigation to Irish DPC

The Danish data protection authority ('Datatilsynet') announced, on 21 January 2021, that it had handed over its investigation of TikTok to the Data Protection Commission ('DPC') in Ireland, following TikTok's statement that it would establish its European headquarters in Ireland. In particular, the Datatilsynet noted that TikTok's establishment in Ireland means that the DPC is now the lead supervisory authority under the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) ('GDPR').
