China: TC260 publishes cybersecurity standards

The National Information Security Standardisation Technical Committee of China ('TC260') announced, on 7 March 2020, the approval and publication of eight cybersecurity standards ('the Cybersecurity Standards'). In particular, one of the standards, namely, the Technical Specifications for Personal Information Security GB / T 35273-2020 ('the Information Security Standard') provides basic principles for personal information security, as well as guidance on the collection and storage of personal information. In addition, the Information Security Standard provide information regarding the rights of data subjects including correction, deletion, and the withdrawal of consent. Lastly, the Information Security Standard contains requirements for data controllers when handling and reporting data security incidents.
