China: National Medical Security Administration issues opinion on strengthening cybersecurity and data protection

Credit China announced, on 13 April 2021, that the National Medical Security Administration had issued guidance on strengthening cybersecurity and data protection. In particular, the opinion outlines main objectives including, the establishment of a medical cybersecurity and data security protection system with a strong foundation, excellent technology, clear responsibilities, and strict management by 2022. Further to this, the opinion recommends significant improvements to the level of cybersecurity, and the effective implementation of data security management. In addition, the opinion aims to strengthen cybersecurity management, data security protection, and safeguard measures. In relation to strengthening cybersecurity management, the opinion suggests, among other things, improving cybersecurity supervision and management mechanisms, strengthening the security protection of critical information infrastructure as well as cybersecurity technical protection capabilities, and improving emergency response capabilities for emergent cybersecurity incidents.
