China: CAC releases NHC's notice on strengthening the Construction of smart hospitals

The Cyberspace Administration of China ('CAC') released, on 24 May 2020, the National Health Commission's ('NHC') notice ('the Notice') on the construction of smart hospitals, as well as the improvement of appointment diagnosis and treatment system. In particular, the Notice recommends the promotion of unified management of medical data, fusion of the medical apps of public health institutions and medical services to promote data sharing in hospital electronic medical record systems, and residents' electronic health records, among other things. Moreover, the Notice emphasises that all hospitals should attach great importance to information and network security, and build a security system. Finally, the Notice notes that it is necessary to strengthen patient privacy protection in internet medical services and improve the relevant systems and measures for privacy protection.
