China: CAC publishes cybersecurity review measures

The Cyberspace Administration of China ('CAC') published, on 27 April 2020, cybersecurity review measures ('the Review Measures') along with 11 other departments. In particular, the Review Measures require critical information infrastructure operators purchasing procurement network products and services that affect or may affect national security or network security to be reviewed by the cyber security review office. Moreover, the Review Measures note that the factors that will be considered in the review include the risk of key information infrastructure being subject to interference or destruction, and the theft, leakage, or damage of important data, as well as the product and service providers' compliance with Chinese laws, administrative regulations, and departmental regulations.

The Review Measures will be implemented as of 1 June 2020, and simultaneously repeal the Measures for the Safety Review of Network Products and Services (Trial).
