California: Bill on CPPA amended to focus on sensitive information

Assembly Bill 947 California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018: California Privacy Protection Agency was amended on, 6 March 2023, and thereafter referred to the Committee on Privacy and Consumer Protection. In particular, the bill has been renamed Assembly Bill 947 California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018: Sensitive Personal Information and would add personal information that reveals a consumer's citizenship or immigration status to the definition of sensitive personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020) ('CCPA as amended'). To this end, the amended bill introduces rights associated with the use of sensitive personal information.
