California: Bill to amend CPRA for proctoring services in education passes State Senate

Senate Bill ('SB') 1172 for An act to add Section 1798.101 to the Civil Code, relating to privacy and proctoring services, under the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020 ('CPRA') passed, on 25 May 2022, the State Senate, and will now be considered in the State Assembly. In particular, the bill would establish certain data processing requirements for businesses which provide proctoring services in an educational setting, and would allow consumers to bring civil actions against violating businesses.
