Brazil: CNPD publishes resolution on its internal regulations 

The National Council for Data Protection ('CNPD') published, on 10 May 2022, in the Official Gazette, CNPD Resolution No. 1 of 6 May 2022 that establishes the internal regulations of the CNPD. In particular, among the various topics on the structuring of the CNPD, the Resolution addresses matters such as: 

  • the responsibilities to propose strategic guidelines and provide subsidies for the elaboration of the National Policy for the Protection of Personal Data and Privacy and for the performance of the Brazilian data protection authority ('ANPD'); 
  • preparing annual evaluation reports on the execution of the actions of the National Policy for the Protection of Personal Data and Privacy; 
  • suggesting actions be carried out by the ANPD; 
  • preparing studies and holding debates and public hearings on the protection of personal data and privacy; and 
  • disseminating knowledge about the protection of personal data and privacy to the general population.
