Brazil: ANPD signs MoU with AEPD
The Brazilian data protection authority ('ANPD') signed, on 4 October 2021, a memorandum of understanding ('MoU') with the Spanish data protection authority ('AEPD'). In particular, the MoU aims to promote specific technical cooperation mechanisms that allow the exchange of knowledge and experiences between the two authorities, enable institutional collaboration, identification of best practices in the field of personal data protection, and promote the development of joint actions in the dissemination and practical application of data protection regulations. In addition, according to the ANPD, the MoU is the first international agreement signed by the ANPD with an international data protection authority. Moreover, along with other cooperation agreements already signed, the MoU is the result of the objectives set out in the ANPD's Strategic Plan, which include strengthening the culture of protection of personal data, as well as forming a dialogue with governmental and non-governmental entities, such as international organisations and other personal data protection authorities.
