Belgium: DPA releases cookie checklist

On October 20, 2023, the Belgian data protection authority (Belgian DPA) released a checklist to help organizations align their cookie practices with current regulations. In particular, the checklist contains a non-exhaustive list of obligations when using cookies and other similar tracking technologies, as well as examples of compliant practices. The Belgian DPA highlighted that cookies can only be placed if the organization has collected prior consent in a free, specific, informed, unambiguous, and active manner, except only for strictly necessary cookies.

Finally, the Belgian DPA also noted other resources available on its website regarding cookies.
