Belgium: Belgian DPA announces changes to internal procedures

On May 31, 2024, the Belgian data protection authority (Belgian DPA) announced changes to the Belgian DPA's organic law aimed at optimizing its efficiency and functioning.

What are the changes?

The Belgian DPA highlighted that the Front Line Service will be able to intervene proactively in carrying out mediations. The procedure before the Litigation Chamber has also been updated in order to further guarantee legal certainty and the smooth flow of cases.

The Belgian DPA also published new forms for notice, complaint, and mediation.

The changes came into effect on June 1, 2024.
