The Bavarian data protection authority ('BayLfD') issued, on 3 June 2020, a best practice checklist ('the Checklist') to prevent cyber attacks in medical institutions in the context of the COVID-19 ('Coronavirus') pandemic. In particular, the Checklist provides an overview of practical cybersecurity measures for medical facilities, including a special section for laboratories, in accordance with the applicable legal data protection regulations. Moreover, the Checklist intends to increase awareness of safety-related issues and actively support the efficient operation of medical facilities.
