Algeria: Law No. 18-07 to enter into effect before end of August 2023

OneTrust DataGuidance Research confirmed, on 20 March 2023, with Sihem Hassani, Associate at Hogan Lovells, that Law No. 18-07 of 25 Ramadhan 1439 Corresponding to June 10, 2018 Relating to the Protection of Individuals in the Processing of Personal Data ('Law No. 18-07') is scheduled to enter into force from August 2023. In particular, Hassani commented that, "the appointment of the president and members of the Algerian data protection authority [('ANPDP')] by means of Presidential Decree No. 22-187 of 18 May 2022 means that the ANPDP has been officially established".

Further to the above, Hassani confirmed that, "the members of the ANPDP having taken the oath in August 2022, the one-year period [for compliance with the Law No. 18-07] is set to expire in August 2023".
