Thailand: MDES launches Personal Data Protection Act Center

On January 29, 2024, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES) launched the Personal Data Protection Act Center (PDPA Center) to provide comprehensive personal data protection services, including receiving complaints and providing advice on personal data protection to citizens and various agencies. This follows the Personal Data Protection Committee's (PDPC) investigation into more than 5,000 cases of personal data leaks over the past two months.

What services will the PDPA Center provide?

In particular, the MDES emphasized that the PDPA Center's services include:

  • an advisory and answering service center regarding PDPA laws;
  • a service center for receiving complaints about non-compliance with the PDPA laws;
  • the Personal Data Violation Surveillance Center (PDPC Eagle Eye);
  • a knowledge and academic service center on personal data protection;
  • a coordination center for personal data protection officers (DPO) and providing advice on principles for regulating personal data protection;
  • a center for driving cooperation in personal data protection; and
  • a center for promoting the use of personal data protection standards.
