Peru: Presidency of the Council of Ministers announces creation of national body to enhance cybersecurity

The Presidency of the Council of Ministers ('PCM') announced, on 22 May 2022, the creation of the National Centre for Digital Security, as part of the PCM's efforts to enhance cybersecurity and mitigate risks in the country. More specifically, the PCM noted that the Centre will be responsible for identifying, protecting, detecting, responding to, recovering, and collecting information on digital security incidents, and with work with both public and private sector companies in order to ensure:

  • strengthened security measures against cyber attacks; 
  • that specialised equipment and prevention technologies are in place; and 
  • reporting of digital incidents to the Centre.
