Mecklenburg-Vorpommern: LfDI Mecklenburg-Vorpommern releases statement on Microsoft Exchange vulnerabilities

The State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information Mecklenburg-Vorpommern ('LfDI Mecklenburg-Vorpommern') released, on 23 March 2021, a statement outlining the data protection risks associated with the Microsoft Exchange server vulnerabilities. In particular, the LfDI Mecklenburg-Vorpommern highlighted that there is a risk that existing loopholes could be further exploited for more in-depth attacks.

Heinz Müller, the LfDI Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, noted that any entity who has not yet acted is grossly negligent, emphasising that all e-mail traffic could be accessible to the attacker, including sensitive data on a large scale, and that, such a situation is intolerable and may be punished by the LfDI Mecklenburg-Vorpommern accordingly.
