The Minister of Telecommunications and Information Society, Andrés Michelena, introduced, on 19 September 2019, a bill on the protection of personal data ('the Bill') to the National Assembly of Ecuador ('the Assembly'). In particular, the Bill seeks to provide rights for data subjects in the digital age, and follows from a data breach where sensitive citizen information was compromised.
